Fashionable Fundraising Affair!

On Saturday 28 November 2015, the Orange Babies Ball took place at Pakhuis West in Amsterdam. Orange Babies organised a big event called ‘A Fashionable Fundraising Affair’ where we contemplated what we’ve achieved over the past 16 years but we also looked forward with great enthusiasm and we toasted to life. Under the inspiring direction of auctioneer Sophie Bremers of auction house Christie’s Amsterdam, the impressive amount of € 300.300,- was raised!

Unique fashion show

Fashion is creativity, this has always been important to Orange Babies. The fashion moment of the evening was the unique fashion show. A tribute to the works of the Dutch couturier Frans Molenaar, showing 15 special pieces from his career. With a rebellious twist to 2015 by the international designer Ronald van der Kemp, whose couture line RVDK was shown on a catwalk for the very first time. The styling of the show was taken care of by Vogue, House of Orange, and M.A.C. Cosmetics, to which we’ve always had a close connection.

Fundraising

The evening was also all about Fundraising. In the industrial setting of Pakhuis West in Amsterdam the guests sat down in the VIP booths where Fiona Hering, Orange Babies ambassador, addressed them enthusiastically. After a homage to the close relationship between Orange Babies and the world of fashion, the guests were invited to support Orange Babies during the annual auction. A classic Volkswagen Beetle from the year 1968, 48 hours with Martin Garrix, a unique fitted piece from the most recent Frans Molenaar collection, spending a day in Amsterdam with Mayor Eberhard van der Laan and many other special items increased the tension.

Helping 3.000 babies

With the money raised at the Orange Babies Ball over 3.000 babies can be helped. This great result was announced and celebrated in a spectacular way. The cheque was accepted by the founders - Baba Sylla, John Kattenberg and Stef Bakker - our ambassadors - Jeroen van Koningsbrugge, Fiona Hering, Caroline Tensen, Herman den Blijker and Henk Schiffmacher - and the new chairman of the board Uneke Dekkers. The complete amount raised at the Ball will go to the Orange Babies projects and is very important for the continuity of the projects in South Africa, Namibia & Zambia. With the money raised many mothers receive a priceless gift: a healthy start in life for their babies. On behalf of Orange Babies, thank you!
